I’m not a parent but i have Eczema on my arm and face and stuff.
Your baby has it bad, i am sorry.
Lately i have been trying Homeopathic medicine and it is working.
This is another option you have. There is no steroid involved in this.

parents with babies who have eczema…? aussie parents?
i had to take my son to the doctor today as he has developed eczema…on his groin the poor thing.
His whole scrotum, penis and in the groin (but not on his bottom, but he has some nappy rash there) is bright red, dry and sore and has caused his penis (he’s uncircumcised) to become a little infected so he is on antibiotics and is using a cortisone cream 2-3 times a day.
I am using QV oil in the bath and QV cream on his body as well as using cotton squares and QV cream or warm cloths instead of wipes.
Can i use sorbolene cream and cotton squares?
Is there anything else i can do for him to make this go away quicker? He is so sore today, but is peeing and pooping fine, but the eczema doesn’t really seem to by anywhere else other than a dry skin under his knees.
I don’t know what else i should be doing.
Oh and he’s developed a small amount of nappy rash on his lower butt (cos hes pooping a little more due to teething which is normal for him) now so I’m using a 100% natural ‘paw paw’ ointment which normally works great for him, just wondering if that is okay for if he has eczema?
Oooh poor little guy, sounds very painful.
My middle son gets shocking eczema, mainly on his hands and legs.
I am aussie too, and yes, I use QV bath oil in the bath, never soap with him.
I pat him dry, not rub with the towel, and then lather him right up with sorbolene cream. I also have a sorbolene pump bottle in the bathroom to use instead of soap.
I would just let him have as much nappy free time as possible, keep the area well moisturised as well as applying the cortisone cream as directed.
I have never used paw paw cream, so can’t really help there. Maybe give the chemist a quick ring and ask them, that’s what I usually do if I am unsure about anything medicine/ ointment related.
Lots of luck, and I hope he clears up soon ( the cortisone should start working fairly quickly, I notice when my son has flare ups we put some on at bedtime, and it is a lot better by morning.)
Eczema is a pain, hopefully it doesn’t last too long for him.
Ooh yeah, and accept my Facebook friend request, lol.

Poor baby ! eczema is hard to get rid off , i have used paw paw ointment before and it is good i cant see that it would hurt to use with the eczema. My mother inlaw gets eczema as well and swears by "cracked cow teat cream" yes it is for cows but she uses and swears by it crazy but true.
Canastin cream (the stuff for thrush think i spelt wrong) is also fantastic for bad nappy rash. Best of luck

I’m an aussie mum!
My 4 year old has eczema, quite bad on her back. I use DermAid 1% cream from the chemist, It’s availiable over the counter. Well it is in Perth.
I’m not sure about paw paw ointment, is that the lucas’s (red tub/tube) one? It’s all natural so i’m sure it would be fine.
I actually use sorbolene cream in the bath water, it’s better than using Qv and it’s cheaper.

Try using a natural bathwash with no chemicals. Gaia is a great brand. A lot of baby washes (and many other products) contain Sodium Lauryl Sulphate which can cause eczema rashes on sensitive skin. My daughter had it all over one thigh, the doctor told me to use cortisone cream. I didn’t use the cream, I just changed bathwash and it cleared right up. Paw Paw ointment is okay to use, but it is better to fix the cause if you can, not just the effects.

I don’t know anything abouut paw paw ointment, but I just wanted to suggest trying Evening Primrose Oil for the eczema. I’ve read in several places that it helps. Also California Baby makes a great Sensitive Skin body wash that claims to help. My friend’s son has it and I gave her some of my bottle of wash; it cleared him right up! ![]()
Good luck! Poor little honey.
